Je possède une Peugeot! – The Return of Peugeot Philippines

Whether you pronounce it “Poo-shjoe” or “PYOO-zho” or even “per-zho”, it really doesn’t matter. What matters is French-carmaker Peugeot will be back in Philippines, this time bringing some serious business. Thanks to Columbian Motors (distributor of BMW and Kia), Peugeot may be re-introduced in the Philippines this July. Now that’s Something to Look 4ward to!

Peugeot is lining up several models with micro-hybrid e-HDI diesel engine, so it should be interesting how Filipinos will react to this new technology along with their European design.
Check out what Peugeot has to offer:
  • 3008
  • 5008

  • 508
  • 308CC
  • RCZ

Manila International Auto Show 2012

Coming this March 29 to April 01 at the World Trade Center, the 8th Manila International Auto Show will once again bring you the best cars the automotive industry has to offer. With an entrance fee of only P100, you get access to brand new cars, concept cars, tricked out rides, auto parts, accessories, electronics, gadgets and OEM supplies.

What’s exciting about the Manila International Auto Show 2012 is the launch of several models that have been talked about for the past couple of months. With Hyundai, we are expecting to see India-made Eon, a 5-door hatch with an 800cc engine which I assume will directly compete with the Suzuki Alto K10. Another one in Hyundai’s corner is Veloster. It’s a 3-door hatch/sports coupe with a 1.6L engine and a 6-speed transmission, and the looks… absolutely amazing!

Confirming its launch at the Manila International Auto Show 2012, is the all new Ford Ranger. I heard they will have an off-road track setup to show-off its new muscle. But speaking of muscle, the question that everybody keeps on asking is, will Ford finally bring the Mustang to Philippines shore? That we will soon find out.

Adding a new member to the Subaru lineup is their crossover SUV, the Subaru XV. Chevrolet might be there to present their new 7-seater Chevy Orlando and possibly (I repeat, possibly) the Chevy Cruze Hatchback.

And I do hope the Lamborghini Aventador will make an appearance, that would be Something to Look 4ward to.

Get TOUGH with the New 2012 Ford Ranger!

After the ridiculous looking semi-pulled back eyes of the 2009-2011 Ranger models, Ford finally came to their senses and went back to the drawing board.

Here comes the 2012 Ford Ranger with its new brute face, strong chin, tons of power and technology under the hood! Set to be announced at the 2012 Manila International Auto Show on March 29 – April 1, this is definitely Something to Look 4ward to!

A couple of pictures has been floating around and based on the exterior, minor changes were made on the back and sides of the truck. A slightly updated tail light, same side air vents but showing the 6-speed badge (yes you read it right, 6-speed, but more on that later) and the door handles looks the same.

They did, however, focused on the front which gives Ford that bully aura it is known for. No more fancy swirly girly lines here. It’s all about keeping it clean, straight and tidy. Along with its wide masculine grill this is one heavyweight contender.

For the interior, it has the same Ford ambiance keeping it real simple and modern. There are 3 engine variants to look 4ward to:

  • a 2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi, four-cylinder, turbo-charged diesel producing 148 horsepower
  • a 3.2-liter Duratorq TDCi, inline-five, turbo-charged diesel giving 197 horsepower
  • a 2.5-liter Duratec four-cylinder gasoline engine making 164 horsepower

Both of the diesel variants comes with 6-speed automatic and manual transmissions, while the gas engine is set to 5-speed. I was able to stumble on some specs for the 2.2L variant, which is probably the first to be available in the Philippines:

2012 Ford Ranger 2.2L Duratorq TDCi DOHC 24V
  • Maximum Power: 150HP @ 3,700 rpm
  • Maximum Torque: 375Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm
  • 6-Speed AT Grade Control Logic
  • Dynamic Stability Control
  • Emergency Brake Assist
  • Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control
  • Brakes: Ventilated Discs/Drums
  • 17" Alloy Wheels
  • 4.2" LCD Multi-Information Display
  • In-Dash DVD/CD/AM/FM/MP3/USB/Bluetooth/
  • iPod Connectivity/Voice Control/6 Speakers
  • Dual Zone Auto Climate Control
  • Dual Front SRS Airbags
  • ABS | HSA | HDC | TCS
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Keyless Entry System
  • Security Alarm

No official SRP yet from Ford, but my guesstimate is around the 900k-1M mark for the 2.2L and 2.5L. And for the Wildtrak 3.2L version, it could set you back to 1.1M-1.3M.

You can check out Ford Philippines’ official site to get more information.
